Why a rental dinner beats a restaurant reservation

A group of twelve in a Nashville restaurant gets a long table, a set menu and a two-hour clock. The same twelve in the house you already rented get the whole night — no cars, no reservation window, no shouting across a room. The food comes out course by course in a room where everyone can actually hear each other.

That's the whole reason I built the business around cooking in other people's kitchens. The room is already yours. I just bring the restaurant into it.

What actually happens on the night

    • Two hours before service — I arrive, unload, take over the kitchen, set the table with my plates and silverware and start prep.
    • Service — courses go out one at a time. For parties of eight or more a dedicated server works the table so nobody gets up.
    • After the last plate — dishes done, counters wiped, trash out, my equipment packed. Roughly 45 minutes, and the kitchen is cleaner than I found it.

Choosing a menu for a rental

Rental kitchens vary wildly, so every preset experience is built to cook well in a normal home kitchen. The Southern Table is the four-course Southern dinner most groups start with. FABLE · Wild South is the five-course flagship for a milestone night. After Hours is fire burgers, stacks and chef pizza served in waves, and it's the one that tends to win over a house full of people who all want something different. If none of them fit, a custom menu starts with a $100 reservation that holds your date while we design it together, against a $75-per-guest food and service floor.

    Weekends this is built for

Bachelorette weekends, milestone birthdays, family reunions, golf and Broadway weekends, corporate retreats in a rented house, and the night before a wedding. If you're planning a bachelorette dinner or a rehearsal dinner, those pages cover the specifics — timing, seating and how the menu changes.

Dietary needs in a group house

Every menu is adapted around allergies and dietary restrictions — gluten-free, dairy-free, nut and shellfish allergies, vegetarian, pescatarian. One menu still goes to the whole table; individual plates get built around the restriction so nobody sits out a course.

    Straight answers

Everything people ask before booking a rental dinner.

Can a private chef cook in an Airbnb or short-term rental?
Yes. I cook in Nashville short-term rentals every week. I bring the food, my own equipment, plates, silverware and serving pieces, cook on site, serve each course, and clean the kitchen down before I leave. The rental only needs a working oven, a cooktop, fridge space and a sink.
What does a private chef cost for a Nashville Airbnb dinner?
Preset dinner experiences run $95–$175 per guest, fully inclusive. After Hours is $95 per guest, The Tavern Table $110, The Southern Table $125 with a $750 event minimum, The Butcher's Table $145, and the FABLE · Wild South flagship $175 per guest with a $900 event minimum. A 20% gratuity is added automatically for parties of 8 or more.
How many guests can you cook for in a rental?
Up to 30 guests for plated private dining. Above 30 it becomes Event Catering, which serves up to 250 guests in Nashville and Middle Tennessee.
What kitchen does the rental actually need?
A working oven, a usable cooktop, refrigerator space and a sink. That's the floor. If the menu needs something the rental doesn't have — induction burners, sous-vide, plating tools — I bring it with me.
Do I need to tell the host or the property manager?
It's courteous to, and some buildings ask. I'm not renovating anything: I arrive with food and equipment, use the kitchen, and leave it clean. If the property requires a certificate of insurance or a vendor name on file, ask me and I'll send what they need.
How long does the evening take?
About three hours from first course to last plate. I arrive roughly two hours before service to set up and prep, and stay about 45 minutes after the last course to clean down the kitchen.
Do you supply wine or cocktails?
I don't sell or supply alcohol. Tell me what you're pouring and I'll build the courses around it, or I'll send a short pairing list you can pick up yourself.
How far in advance should we book a rental dinner?
Two to six weeks is comfortable. Big Nashville weekends fill earlier. Dates and deposits are handled online — you can see live availability and secure the night in a few minutes.
